FLORENCE EVELYN HUNTINGTON

1916 - 2012

This oehfamily web site is dedicated to Florence Evelyn Huntington. Florence was the biggest supporter of the family web site idea and content. It is amazing that in her later years that she got her P/C and high speed Internet and learned email. She has also read most of the web site.

As the family interest turned to zero, Florence said “Don’t worry just keep the site going. They will come back.” She sent me a pack of photos for scanning. I returned the originals and used her images are in various articles.

Thanks Florence for your support and encouragement.

Mini Family Reunion Rapid City 9/11/2007

The first picture is life long friends Janet Thoresen, Bill Beshara, with Boyd and Dick. Front row is Florence, Marian and Sherill. Bill Beshara owns the restaurant where we ate. In the next to last picture Sherill hands Boyd a late large glass of water. Humor by all was the order of the day.

We had a mini family reunion lunch at the Colonial House restaurant in Rapid City SD on Tuesday September 11, 2007. David/Boyd/Whitey and Marian drove up from Colorado. David does not care which name you use so most of us used Boyd. Jimmy O and Jutta missed this gathering by a day. So another reunion took place a few days later and will need reporting by them.

It was great to see Aunt Florence who the most senior living member of the family group. She has a delightful sense of humor and has sharp observations on most subjects. She is a grand lady and her comfortable apartment is bright and cheerful.

Florence is by far the most positive supporter of the family blog. Her advice and wish is for the site to move forward and focus on the new generation. She is considering getting a PC to access the site easier. Her quote goes something like “ I don’t think much about where I have been but I think more about where I am going.”

Our friend Janet observed that “Florence is neat lady and when I get to her age I want to be just like her.”

Boyd and Marian have a lovable Dachshund dog named Max. He delighted all of us with his attentions and greetings. They showed us Boyd’s professional grade picture presentation of their San Juan Mountain CO cabin. It was an amazing gift for Glenna on her recent birthday. We also viewed their family pictures in an equally beautiful way. When they return to CA, I hope they share some still photos with our family group.

It is sad that we have let the years slide by with little or no contact. But at this reunion we all quickly realized that we still have strong family ties and our beliefs, interests, and lives are very similar.

I intend to keep the oehfamily site going unchanged. Our greater family is worth knowing and the effort to involve all family members is a worthwhile goal. I have outlined help to do your own posting in previous posts.
