From Florence
This picture is not dated but labeled on back " Monte and David Paul (Bob)". There are two David Paul Huntingtons who are brothers/twins? born years apart. Grandma Mae walked to the Pennington County Court House and recorded (newly born at home) Bob as David Paul and never told anyone. Years later when Bob went into the service he found out that his real name was not Bob. Confused? Then talk to David Paul who is Boyd Huntington.
Monte in his later life reverted to his first name Charles and answered only to Chuck.

Swander's Sunbeam Bakery classic cartoon
This image is shared by a friend who also has the Swander's personal safe and he uses it daily. My Dad worked for Swander's for approximately 25 years. So I grew up in a bakery. Dad had bread routes and then managed the Deadwood facility. As Swanders downsized he ended up in Rapid City as dock foreman. He was disabled in a work accident. Swanders sold out to Metz Baking who now haul bread from Sioux Falls each day. The bakery building is still at original location Corale mentions except you don't smell fresh bread baking anymore.

Small news of my youngest family members
On Saturday Seth competed in his summer league swimming championships. He won an individual gold metal and anchored his relay races. He and Dale spent the night with Uncle Mike and then had a big adventure Sunday. They joined approximately 60,000 people for a once-in-a-lifetime walk across the new mile long Tacoma Narrows Bridge. From there they took in the dinosaur show http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/story/108200.html at the Tacoma Dome.
Mike's report follows:
"The Dinosaurs were unbelievable. Life-sized, looked and moved like they were real. Amazing sound and light show. When the mommy T-Rex came out at the end to protect her baby, my heart stopped. When she roared, our bones rattled. The kids were on the edge of their seats. We were in the front row. Had to look straight up when the dinos leaned over the edge of the stage. Their tails swooped over head when they turned.
The bridge was a deal, too. Never seen such a mass of people. Caught the bus at the Tacoma Comm College. Kids loved the bus ride as much as the bridge. They dropped us off about 1/2 mile away at the top of the hill going down to the structure. We walked out to halfway point. Looked over the edge and looked up at the columns. It was like standing under King Kong."

Big Earl WWII ~ from Florence
Earl on left with an unknown friend. For the younger family members "Big Earl" was not a size issue but a respectful distinction of the Uncle Earl to the Nephew Earl. Uncle Earl always seemed to show up unannounced. It was uncanny how he knew when we having his favorite beef and barley stew. I always think of him now as we like the same stew and have it often. The Greater OEH family seems have grown like cooking barley :-).
In a movie in the early 1940s we accidentally saw a movie news short that showed Uncle Earl running to battle stations when his ship was attacked. The Elks Theater in Rapid City let the family come a see a free special showing. He was ultimately hurt by explosion concussion force in the attack but recovered as we all worried.

Glenna's Birthday Party - July 1, 2007
Thanks Dick for the lovely commentary on what turned out to be a fabulous party. Mom has loved all of the cards and e-mails that she got--especially the e-mails from "Jack's Brats". Florence, thanks for the flowers and great photos! We spread photos all over the house and now the ones you sent are on Mom's CCTV where she can view them at her leisure. DB Huntington sent a fabulous DVD that he made of a part of Colorado that Mom still loves to think about.
THANKS ALL OF YOU!!!
Holly
